My Story

Back in 2005 I was tired of how I looked. I had lost 53 pounds, gained it back plus more. I was at my heaviest. Now I am 6’1 so I carried my weight well and no one would have thought I weighed what I really did. I will never tell that number. I finally decided that I needed to do something. I had done Weight Watchers on my own and it had worked before so I figured that was my best bet. So I went online bought the online kit and I started it. No meetings no support just me and my scale. What works for one person doesn’t work for everyone. I do some things that I know would make other people nuts, but I have learned what I need to do to lose the weight.

I started with the points weighing and measuring my food. My first goal was to loose about 70 pounds by the time I went to London in April of 2006. I came about 10 pounds shy of that goal. ( The picture to the left is of my in London in April of 06)I came close goal was to loos 100 pounds by my birthday August 14, 2006, one year after starting my weight loss journey. As I started losing the weight I realized that you need to reward yourself and you should never reward yourself with food. I decided that when I lost my 100 pounds I would by myself a COACH purse. A few days after making my decision, my mom came to me and told me that her and my dad wanted to buy me the purse. As I got closer and closer to my goal I realized how much easier it was. It was no longer a diet but I had changed my way of life. A few weeks before my birthday we went and picked out my purse. I told my mom I didn't want it until I reached my goal. My dad the cook in the house would always ask me how I wanted my food cooked, grilled, broiled, a baked potatoes over mashed. Thank god for my family, they were my biggest support. I also joined CURVES, an all women’s gym. ( The picture to the left is of me in June of 06 with Jonathan Papelbon of the Red Sox). The basis of the gym was you work out on a circuit for 30 mins you spent so much time on each station of the circuit. The voice in the music would tell you when to change. They weighed and measured you once a month. I did great the weight, and inches were slowly coming off. Like with all weight loss I hit a plateau. I realized that I needed to change things up. Weight Watchers had another plan called the CORE plan. This plan though was a little tougher there were no daily points, but weekly points and there was a rumor that people tend to over eat on this plan, so I had to be careful of what I ate and when I ate. The plan is technical so I won’t go into it here. There are also other tricks that seem to work for me. I weigh myself in the morning and at night, (though I don’t recommend it), I don’t eat after 7pm or 3 hours before bed. The weight seemed to melt off using this plan I loved it. At one point I was losing a pound a day up to 20 a month. A year after I started the diet I had lost 99.5 pounds. (The picture to the left is me down 99.5 pounds on August 15, 2006) A half pound from my goal, it took me almost a week to loose that half a pound and I think it took so long because it was the half I wanted the most. I have always wanted to learn to scuba dive. I made it my goal that when I reached total weight loss goal I would learn to dive. 10 pounds from my goal, I decided to learn how to dive. ( The picture to the left is of me in Bonaire in August of 2007 2 weeks after learning to dive. At this point I had lost 145 pounds and was 10 pounds from my goal.) This is where everything went south 10 pounds from my goal I started to gain weight, since then I have done nothing but yo-yo. Please know this is the condensed version of my story.

Well I recently once again hit a plateau, and even worse than hitting a plateau is gaining weight and that is what I have done and can’t seem to get it off which is why I am here today to start THE BIGGEST LOSER NKOTB STYLE
